A number of factors determine the daily high and low temperature.
The two most important are wind direction and the amount of cloud cover.
Wind direction can channel in colder air from the north or warmer air from the south. Cloud coverage can limit the amount of sunlight necessary to warm the earth during the day, or clouds can act like a blanket and insulate the Earth at night.
