What would happen if the jet stream changed directions?

Only the middle latitudes experience a jet stream which flows from west to east. Latitudes closer to the equator and the poles travel from east to west. This is a tricky question to answer. The "reversal of the jet stream" would result in lots of weather ramifications to all areas of the USA. If the jet stream traveled from east to west the one thing which could be stated with some certainty is the East Coast would surely see weather systems first. Most regions would no longer experience the weather conditions they have become accustomed to seeing.
