ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A store that has called the Lehigh Valley home for 84 years is closing at the end of month, but this isn't a sad story.Â
Usually, a closing store is a sad sight, but Sandy Kruper, owner of Kruper Brothers, is ready for retirement.Â
"I'm leaving on a happy note, I've enjoyed my career, I've loved my customers," she said.
Her uncle and her father started the business 84 years ago in Coplay and moved it to Allentown in 1945.
"I got enamored by his selling appliances and I always enjoyed talking with people," Sandy said.
And for the last 50 years, Sandy has been carrying on the family tradition.Â
"That makes me proud because that's a real legacy in the appliance industry and for downtown Allentown,"Â Sandy said.
However, it's time to finally close the doors at the end of the month.Â
"I hope to do some charity work, I hope to possibly work at the soup kitchen down here,"Â Sandy said.
Kleckner and Sons will take over their service department.Â
