City Center eyes 2 new office buildings in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - J.B. Reilly and City Center Allentown is starting 2020 just like they ended 2019 - with plans for more buildings in downtown Allentown.

City Center is looking to put in two new office buildings. Just about a month after City Center announced 1 Center Square, they're setting their sights on more office space. City Center imagines 940 and 950 Hamilton to be six or seven stories tall and be around 100,000 square feet.

"We see a building that can be divided up for multiple tenants," said Rob DiLorenzo, a project manager for City Center. "And we see those two sites being as a great opportunity for office development."

940 is already cleared for development. The two buildings at 950 will be torn down.

"They've been vacant buildings for five years now. They're just sort of an eyesore," DiLorenzo said.

City Center will go in front of planners on Monday to get approval for the demolition. They have no hard timetable set for the project yet but they want to have the land ready to go.
