BATH, Pa. - It started as a corner coffee shop, and is now a destination breakfast spot in Northampton County.
It's California Dreamin right here in the Lehigh Valley. The menu at the Bean Bath Cafe says it's your passport to good taste and all the dishes are named after places in the Golden State.
"When I leave home, I'm not going to work, I'm coming to a second home," said cafe owner Christopher Colvin.
It's been that way for the last nine for Christopher Colvin and family. He grabbed the corner spot in the South Moore Plaza shopping Center located in Bath. They started as a coffee shop, but slowly the food became more popular.
Colvin and his wife designed the menu and selected the names for the dishes.
"Since I had been born and raised in California we decided that we would name them after locations in California," Colvin said.
The dishes are garnering a lot of praise. You'll always find different versions of eggs benedict on the menu.
For the fall menu a sweet potato benedict is popular-sweet potatoes, bacon, carmalized onions, topped with eggs and hollandaise sauce.
The signature dish of the cafe is The Sur, named after a beautiful waterway in California.
There is the Sur, little Sur, and big Sur. Its's basically the choice of one, two, or three pancakes.
Leaving disappointed is not an option at the Bean Bath Cafe. The restaurant is growing more popular, especially on the weekends when there's often a waiting list if you're not there early.
It's also not just breakfast, there are lunch items like the Monte Serrano panini.
Colvin says his vision for the cafe is to make it a place where people want to come back for the food, the service, and the atmosphere.
