CARLISLE, Pa. - GIANT grocery stores are reserving the first hour of each business day for shoppers over the age of 60.
Starting Thursday, the stores will be open from 6 to 7 a.m. to serve older adults only.
Store officials say this will help those most vulnerable to coronavirus avoid crowds and hopefully limit the spread of the virus.
Although team members will not request ID for entry, the company asked its customers to respect the purpose of the new policy.
Effective immediately, the company is putting a limit of "two" on key categories throughout the store, including paper goods and disinfectant products.
All GIANT stores, even 24-hour locations, modified their hours to 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
The GIANT Company is hiring temporary and part-time team members across its family of brands which includes GIANT, MARTIN’S, GIANT Direct, MARTIN’S Direct and GIANT Heirloom Market.
Immediate positions as service associates, cashiers, general stock clerks, drivers and fulfillment center selectors are available. Those interested, including anyone whose employment may have been affected by the pandemic, can apply online at the GIANT or MARTIN’S websites or speak with any store manager.
