SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. - A Special Olympics spring event in Lehigh County is off the calendar again, this time because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The track and field event scheduled for May 1 at Parkland High School has been canceled, according to a spokesperson for Lehigh County Special Olympics.

"At Lehigh County Special Olympics we are following directions from Special Olympics Pennsylvania as far as any cancellations," the statement says.

The one-day event that usually brings in thousands of kids was initially canceled back in January because its usual location, Whitehall High School, is under construction.

It was put back on the calendar shortly afterwards when Parkland volunteered to host the event, but now it joins the long list of cancellations due to the virus outbreak.
