Helping Harvest food bank pop-up pantry in Muhlenberg

MUHLENBERG TWP., Pa. - Muhlenberg Township residents in need of a helping hand during the coronavirus pandemic found it Thursday in the form of a pop-up food pantry.

The Helping Harvest food bank distributed food to people on the parking lot of the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church at Stoudts Ferry Bridge and Tuckerton roads.

Organizers said the church normally hosts a monthly food pantry, but it had to cancel its April and May distributions due to volunteers' concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.

On average, the church's food pantry serves more than 150 families in need, but Helping Harvest said it was prepared to help as many as 300 families on Thursday.
