Tower Health headquarters in West Reading

WEST READING, Pa. - Tower Health is now providing virtual care for COVID-19 patients and those with other conditions.

The West Reading-based health network announced Thursday that it is now using the Teladoc Health platform.

Officials said virtual visits with doctors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Each visit costs $45.

"It is imperative that we continue to practice social distancing to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our communities," said Dr. Charles Barbera, Tower Health's vice president of pre-hospital and unscheduled care. "By offering virtual visits, we continue to protect the health of our providers and our community members by keeping otherwise healthy patients at home and keeping potentially infected individuals out of general care facilities, preventing putting others at risk."

Tower Health said those who think they have COVID-19 can be assessed through the app, adding that doctors will guide patients to a Tower Health site if they need testing and treatment.

Other commonly treated conditions for virtual visits include cold and flu symptoms, respiratory infection, pink eye, bronchitis, urinary tract infection, rashes, and seasonal allergies.
