HARRISBURG, Pa. - Hard work on the soccer field this past season earned the Boyertown Lady Bears a trip to Harrisburg on Wednesday.
Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Mensch rose on the Senate floor to publicly congratulate Boyertown Senior High School's girls soccer team on its PIAA 4A state championship.
The Lady Bears won the title on Nov. 15 by defeating Conestoga High School 1-0 in double overtime.
"This was an incredibly exciting win and I applaud the Boyertown Lady Bears on their hard work, teamwork, and drive," Mensch said. "It is my honor to recognize the coaches and assistant coaches for their leadership and commend the team members for their outstanding performance and commitment to excellence."
Mensch then posed for a photo with the players and their coaches in the Senate chamber.
