LOS ANGELES - A California-based plastics recycling company that has a plant in Berks County has filed for bankruptcy protection.

CarbonLITE said it is reorganizing its operations in the wake of production slowdowns and other issues stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials said the company will not cut any jobs.

CarbonLITE's plant on Route 61 in Muhlenberg Township began production last October.

The company also has plants in California and Texas.
