READING, Pa. - Over the past few months of the coronavirus pandemic, outdoor movie screenings have offered a way for local organizations to bring together the community in a physically-distant setting.
The LGBT Center of Greater Reading and the Olivet Boys & Girls Club are now getting in on the fun. The two organizations announced Monday that they have partnered for a series of community movie nights.
"Olivet Boys & Girls Club is thrilled for the opportunity to partner with the LGBT Center to provide safe and secure positive events for the youth of our community," said Chris Winters, the club's president and CEO. "We are grateful for the resources and value that the LGBT Center brings to youth in the community and are excited to serve and engage a wider audience of youth with these fall movie nights at our clubs."
The dates and locations of the movie nights are:
- Kenhorst Community Center, Oct. 2
- Olivet Boys & Girls Club's Pendora unit, Oct. 16
- Olivet Blue Mountain Camp, Oct. 30 (teens only)
- Olivet Boys & Girls Club's PAL unit, Nov. 6
- Olivet Boys & Girls Club's Clinton unit, Nov. 20
The Oct. 30 "spooky movie night" at Blue Mountain is a special Halloween event specifically designed for teens, organizers said. Dinner and snacks will be provided.
