MOUNT PENN, Pa. | A man has been charged in the brutal robbery of a 73-year-old in Berks County.
The suspect was identified Tuesday as Damian Garcia-Garcia, 35, and he was taken into custody on Wednesday, said Det. Sgt. Manndel with Central Berks Regional police.
Police say Garcia-Garcia walked up to a 73-year-old man around 4 p.m. Monday in the 1900 block of Fairview Avenue in Mount Penn. Garcia-Garcia then beat the man on the front porch in order to rob him, authorities allege.
The suspect then fled on foot, making off with change from the victim's pockets, police said.
Garcia-Garcia was cahrged with attempted robbery/inflicting serious bodily injury, attempted robbery/take property from others with force, simple assault and reckless endangerment.
He is being held behind bars, unable to post $150,000 bail, according to online court documents.
