READING, Pa. - A man accused of exhibiting "willful disregard" for the safety of a child as he packaged a dangerous drug inside a motel room in Berks County will spend up to eight years behind bars.
A judge on Thursday ordered Dante Eugene Jackson to serve 21 months to eight years in prison. The sentence followed Jackson's non-negotiated guilty plea to a charge of possession with the intent to deliver fentanyl, according to District Attorney John Adams.
Jackson was arrested after the raid of a room at the Rodeway Inn on the North Fifth Street Highway in Muhlenberg Township in September 2016.
Authorities said they found Jackson to be packaging fentanyl on a table within arm's reach of a two-year-old child. The room's air conditioning unit, they added, was blowing air directly across the table at the time.
