LONGSWAMP TWP., Pa. - Heading into what's shaping up to be a mild weekend in Berks County, Bear Creek Mountain Resort said the weather has been great for visitors and snow making.
"Past couple days have been great. The weather's been really nice," said Gary Kline, the resort's director of marketing. "They've been pretty much blue bird days. In the 40s during the day, sunny skies. Snow-making at night we have been taking full advantage of."
The mild conditions are welcome by skiers and snowboarders as they go down the slopes under a late-day sun.
"It's a Friday. Fridays are usually pretty good," said Kline. "Hotel's full. We are in the middle of the ski season right now."
A couple snowboarding and skiing friends took advantage and decided to return to the sport after some time away."
"This is my first time since like seventh grade," said Jesse Keaton of Yardley. "It's been a while. It's just like riding a bike. Ya just gotta get back into it all you gotta do is practice."
But there are some weather concerns heading into the weekend, with rain on deck for tomorrow, but officials at Bear Creek said they're ready.
"You could see right now just from all the snow that's out here we have a really big base," said Kline.
It's a historic season for Bear Creek, as it had its earliest opening in its history on Nov. 15.
