HARRISBURG, Pa. — A Pennsylvania state senator who serves part of Berks County is not seeking another term.

Sen. Bob Mensch, a Republican who serves the 24th District, which covers part of eastern Berks, said Thursday that he plans to retire when his term ends in 2023.

Mensch said he's been in state government for 16 years, and now, at 76, he wants to take some time for himself, his family, and his friends. He said he's announcing his retirement now to give candidates plenty of time to come forward.
