CUMRU TWP., Pa. - Berks County-based Penske Truck Leasing is celebrating 50 years in business.

Chairman Roger Penske and Brian Hard, the president and CEO of the company's newest brand, Penske Transportation Solutions, posed with plaques to commemorate the occasion.

"Our success has always been driven by our talented and highly motivated associates who dedicate themselves to making the needs of our customers their top priority," Penske said. "I am grateful to our talented associates around the globe for the contributions they have made to the success of the company."

Penske founded the company in Reading in 1969. It has since grown to have more than 1,100 locations and 37,000 employees, with more than $8.4 billion in annual revenue.

"We are proud of the businesses we've built and we are also appreciative of how our success has enabled us to give back and reinvest in our communities, especially here in Reading, Pennsylvania, where we remain headquartered," Hard said.

The state Senate also declared Dec. 1 "Penske Truck Leasing" Day in Pennsylvania.
