A key piece of evidence helped police make quick work of a retail theft investigation in Berks County.
Police said they were summoned to Boscov's East on Perkiomen Avenue in Exeter Township on August 31 for the report of a woman who stole $1,368.07 worth of jewelry from the store.
Boscov's security workers told police that the woman spent nearly two hours in a fitting room before emerging and leaving the store without buying anything, according to court documents released Wednesday.
Boscov's employees then checked the fitting room and found more than 40 empty jewelry containers wrapped in clothing that the suspect had picked up in the store, according to the paperwork.
Also found in the fitting room, police said, was the woman's wallet, which contained her driver's license.
Paige Breslin, 25, of Union Township, is now in the Berks County Jail on a charge of retail theft. Her bail is set at $10,000.
