A Berks County man has been arrested as the 14th suspect in the gang-related killing of a teenager outside a deli in New York City.
Frederick Then, 20, of Reading, was arrested Sunday on murder, manslaughter and other charges in the June 20 machete death of 15-year-old Lesandro Guzman-Feliz.
Information on Then's attorney wasn't immediately available.
Authorities said the suspects are members of the violent Trinitarios gang. They said Guzman-Feliz, who went by the name "Junior," was mistakenly targeted by the gang, dragged from the store, and then repeatedly stabbed and left to die on the sidewalk.
A widely shared video recording of the teen's killing sparked widespread outrage in the city and beyond.
Police said Guzman-Feliz was a member of the New York Police Department's Explorers program, which gives young adults an introduction to a career in law enforcement, and dreamed of one day joining the NYPD.
The stabbing murder of this young man is among the most brutal crimes I've seen in my 36yr career. @NYPDDetectives are working hard to capture these killers, but we also need your help.
