HARRISBURG, Pa. - More than a half-million dollars in state money will help fund part of a 103-acre development project in Berks County.
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development has awarded a $520,000 transportation grant to Spring Township.
The money, officials said will help pay for significant roadway and signal improvements on Broadcasting Road, near a development that will feature new housing, retail space, and offices for Reading Hospital.
"This is an exciting opportunity not only for Spring Township, but for all of Berks County," said state Sen. David Argall. "The Spring Ridge project has been a top priority for the community, and I am thankful this funding will play a key role in ensuring traffic can flow through the area without creating a danger to motorists and pedestrians."
The money was awarded as part of DCED's Multimodal Transportation Fund program.
