Taylor Swift fans are about to have a merry "Swiftmas," as the Berks County-born pop star appears poised to give them a festive feel for the place she once called home.
Swift revealed on her social media accounts Thursday morning that she will release a new Christmas song and a video made from home movies at midnight eastern time. The title? "Christmas Tree Farm."
"OK. I know this is pretty wild, but I've just written a Christmas song," Swift said in a self-recorded video she shared on social media. "I feel like it's weird to just like wait a year to put it out."
Swift then proceeded to seek the opinions of her three cats -- Meredith, Benjamin, and Olivia -- but none of them appeared wanting to be bothered by her silliness.
When in doubt, ask the itty bitty pretty kitty committee. When they shun you with silence, ambivalence, and judgmental brush offs... just put the song out anyway. Swift has covered a number of Christmas songs, but she has never released an original.
Swift lived for several years on a Christmas tree farm in Cumru Township before moving with her family to Wyomissing Hills and then to Nashville, where she launched her Grammy Award-winning career.
The last time Swift publicly revealed she had returned to Berks County was in July 2018, when she posted to Instagram a picture of herself holding a photo of her younger self. Both photos showed Swift standing in the same spot on the Cumru Township property.
