WILSON, Pa. - Authorities are looking for a man wanted on domestic assault charges who led police on a chase and tried to run down an officer, Wilson police said.
It started shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday when police responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 1900 block of Ferry Street in Wilson, police said in a news release.
A responding officer spotted Julio Gonzalez, 22, getting into a vehicle. The Bethlehem man was known to Wilson police as he has two active domestic assault-related warrants issued against him, a news release said.
Police tried to stop Gonzalez but he sped off, leading the officer into Easton. Gonzalez ran several stop signs and drove the wrong way down a one-way street, police said.
Police lost sight of him, but he was spotted again in his vehicle on North Peach Street, authorities said.
The officer got out of his car to try to stop Gonzalez, but he sped up towards the officer, who had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit, police said.
Easton police later found Gonzalez's car in the 1100 block of Spring Garden Street, but Gonzalez was not inside.
Police are asking for the public's help in finding him. In addition to the two domestic assault warrants, Gonzalez is wanted on charges of aggravated assault, fleeing police, reckless endangerment, and more.
Gonzalez has ties to Allentown, Bethlehem and Wilson, police said.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact police at 610-759-2200.
