ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Prom dreams are coming true for some local high school seniors thanks to their own commitment to civic duty.

Building 21 High School in Allentown is one of only 20 high schools across the country that won the "2020 Prom Challenge."

MTV and the "When We All Vote" organization launched the campaign to try to get schools to register students to vote.

Building 21 did just that, and won $5,000 and a chance to be featured in a virtual "Prom-athon" livestreaming on MTV and YouTube Friday night.

School officials say the $5,000 was originally meant to go toward a traditional prom, but then the pandemic hit. They still got the money, and say they'll put it toward voter registration drives next year.
