250 butterflies released to honor and remember loved ones touched by cancer

Hundreds of butterflies were released at Cedar Crest College in Allentown in honor and memory of loved ones touched by cancer.

The 12th annual Wings of Hope, hosted by the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley, was held Saturday.

Several supporters took home a paper butterfly with a loved one's name on it. Organizers say it's important to hold events like this.

"It's a great feeling to see everyone coming out to honor or remember their loved ones affected by cancer, and to be able to be the host this event and to showcase the programs and services that we offer at no cost to people," said an organizer of the event.

About 250 monarch butterflies were released at noon.
