ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Diocese of Allentown has released an interim report from the committee overseeing the clergy sex abuse victim compensation fund.
As of Jan. 2, 47 applicants have received a combined $8,975,000 in compensation, and no compensation offer has been rejected, the Independent Oversight Committee said.
There are 56 more applications still under consideration and review. The committee said many applications were received near the end of the program, which caused a delay in processing.
The committee operates independent from the Diocese of Allentown. It oversees and reviews the Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program, which is funded by the diocese to provide compensation for victims of clergy sexual abuse.
The committee plans to issue a final report once all applications have been reviewed.
