ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Authorities are investigating the death of a man in his Allentown home Sunday night.

Benjamin Boehm, 39, was found dead by his roommate in the home they shared in the 1600 block of East Cedar Street, authorities said.

Police were called to the home around 8:30 p.m., and officers called the Allentown Fire Department after finding containers and packages with hazardous labels on them, said Capt. John Christopher, with the fire department.

Investigators determined the substances were used for exotic plants and the scene was safe, Christopher said.

A decontamination unit also responded to the scene, as did a deputy from the Lehigh County coroner's office, who pronounced Boehm dead around 1:30 a.m. Monday, officials said.

Investigators are not yet sure if the exotic plant substances played a role in Boehm's death.

The Lehigh County coroner's office said Boehm's cause and manner of death are pending further forensic testing.
