Whitehall Township discusses delaying Lidl sidewalk installation

WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – The Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners entertained a request Monday to amend its official zoning map for a 155-acre land trust parcel, located near the intersection of MacArthur Road and Route 329 in the township.

The request for a motion regarding a particular rezoning of nearly 50 acres of the parcel, located at 4500 Spruce St., will be acted upon by the board at its regular meeting next Monday, Oct. 14.

Property owner Joseph Iudicello represented the residuary trust of the late Andrew Yastishok. He requested that 50 acres of the parcel, located in the northeast section, be rezoned to a higher density residential capacity. He wants the density to accommodate approximately three single family homes per acre, as opposed to the current low-density residential requirement in effect allowing one single family dwelling per acre.

Iudicello pointed out the 50-acre parcel in question has access to both public water and a gravity-based sewer system.

In addition, he recommended the commissioners, at their discretion, rezone the 100-acre balance of the property to open space or low-density residential status either which would be consistent with the township's comprehensive plan.
