EASTON, Pa. | A Monroe County man is facing assault charges after allegedly stabbing a man this summer after an argument over parking.
Easton police charged Anthony Rodriguez, of East Stroudsburg, with two felony counts of aggravated assault in connection with the incident in the 1100 block of Elm Street. District Judge Patricia Broscius arraigned the 32-year-old Tuesday night, setting bail at $100,000.
Shortly before 6 p.m. Aug. 28, Easton police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Elm Street to find a 54-year-old victim of an apparent stabbing. Officers said he was bleeding from a cut on the right side of his chest. The victim offered a description of his attacker, who ran east on Elm Street.
The victim told a detective that he and a man later identified as Rodriguez began arguing over where the victim parked his car, according to court records. The victim reported the altercation ended with him being stabbed.
Easton police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Elm Street Nov. 25 for a report of a domestic dispute. Officers made contact with a man who was arguing with his mother. He told police that he had information about the Aug. 28 stabbing. He reported to police that Rodriguez stabbed the victim and hid at his mother’s house.
While investigating the domestic incident, Easton police said they found Rodriguez leaving the area. Earlier this month, the victim reportedly identified Rodriguez in a photo lineup as his attacker.
He failed to post bail and was sent to Northampton County Prison to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 14.
