Trail rescue

Several fire companies in Lehigh County came to the rescue of an injured hiker on the Appalachian Trail.

Around 5 p.m. Saturday, rescuers were called to a section of the trail between Bake Oven Knob Road and Route 309 near the Lehigh-Schuylkill county border.

Crews at the scene say a woman suffered an ankle injury.

They were able to locate her and treat her.

It took several hours for crews to get her off of the trail.
