LEHIGH TWP., Pa. - A fire destroyed much of a barn in Northampton County Thursday morning.

More than a half-dozen fire companies swarmed Apple Road in Lehigh Township shortly before 9 a.m. to help fight the blaze, officials said.

Firefighters say strong winds made fighting the fire difficult.

No injuries have been reported.

The fire didn't spread to any nearby homes or fields. Once the fire was out, crews used water and heavy equipment to knock down the remaining stone wall, fearing it would fall forward into the road and power lines.

Khalil Maamari's family owns the barn and surrounding property. He says a neighbor knocked on their door after seeing smoke. He says the fire quickly took over.

Maamari says they did lose small animals, chickens, rabbits, a peacock, and a cat. But he says he's glad no one was injured.
