HANOVER TWP., Pa. | A Lehigh County man is facing charges for allegedly trying to cut a woman’s throat with a razor blade.

Pennsylvania State Police charged Jamel O. Brown with a single felony count of aggravated assault in connection with the alleged attack Tuesday in Hanover Township, Lehigh County.

State police were dispatched to the 2200 block of Schoenersville Road on Tuesday for a report of a domestic dispute involving a box cutter. The victim told authorities that she'd been arguing with Brown, the father of her children, during which he allegedly threatened several times to kill her, according to the criminal complaint.

While driving in the 1000 block of Weaversville Road, the victim accused Brown of pulling a razor blade out of his bag, grabbing her head with his left hand and trying to cut her throat with his right hand, according to court records.

She told authorities that she managed to grab his hand and push it away, causing Brown to cut himself with the razor blade. State police said they found a "large amount of blood" in the victim’s car.

Bethlehem police reported that Brown was at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg and had multiple cuts to his right hand.

District Judge John Durkin arraigned Brown, of Broadway in Fountain Hill, Tuesday afternoon, setting bail at $75,000. The 42-year-old failed to post bail and was sent to Lehigh County Jail to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 21.
