WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. - The Lehigh County coroner's office has identified the man killed in a shooting early Friday morning.
Jeffrey Werner, 53, was pronounced dead shortly before 5:30 a.m. in his home in Whitehall Township, the coroner's office said in a news release.
He died of gunshot wounds to the body, officials said. His death was ruled a homicide.
Authorities have not said if any arrests have been made, but Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin said the killing was not random and the public is not in danger.
Police responded to the home in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Street around 4:15 a.m. for a report of a shooting, emergency dispatchers said.
Investigators were seen going in and out of the house, and knocking on neighbors' doors.
Neighbors told WFMZ's Holly Harrar the people living in the home are renters.
Whitehall Township police, state police, the district attorney's Homicide Task Force and the coroner's office are investigating the homicide.
