BETHLEHEM, Pa. - And It's off to the races for ArtsQuest's 14th annual Oktoberfest.
Jenn Loconte, ArtsQuest's Director of communications says, "It's finally fall, right? We survived Musikfest, and now we're here for cooler weather, and we're so excited to welcome the 14th annual Oktoberfest."
Joe Capparell, a glass-blowing instructor for the Banana Factory said, "Oktoberfest is a blast. It's the two weekend party."
The fall favorite event begins tonight with all the activities that everyone knows and loves. Laconte says, "We have our championship, the official beer stein holding competitions, we've got Kong Pong. We have our beer dinners."
The glass blowing is another favorite. Capparell said, "People love it. People love, you know, when the process of making it and we put it in the mold, people don't realize, like the process of glass making."
And perhaps the most popular show of the German festival, the wiener dog races.
Dog mom Candice Remaly says, "Some dogs don't move, some take each other out, and some run the other way."
Candice's dog would fall into the latter category, so much so, he earned himself the nickname, "Hairless and clueless, but you're proud of the title, very proud."
This year's event will feature two new activities- human foosball and a brat toss. But don't worry, they won't be real bratwursts.
Loconte says, "We always have our traditions, but we always like to incorporate something new, just to kind of bring about some more excitement."
