Lehigh University student arrested with loaded handgun charged with aggravated assault

A Lehigh University student who police said banged on a car window and acted aggressively Monday was charged.

Nile Hardy, 23, faces several charges, including aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.

Hardy was banging on the glass of an occupied vehicle at the intersection of South New Street and Morton Street, according to court records.

Hardy continued to yell after police arrived, requesting officers to kill him, court records said. Hardy tried to punch an officer several times, once striking the officer's right hand, court records said.

Hardy continued to resist after more officers arrived and got him to the ground. Hardy was taken into custody with the help of five officers, court records said.

Officers found a loaded semi-automatic handgun and a kitchen knife in Hardy's backpack, court records said.
