SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - The Lehigh Valley Zoo is open for Memorial Day weekend, and you can get a chance to see the animals in a new way.

The non-profit organization is holding a drive-thru fundraiser called "Cruise LV Zoo."

It lost out on some revenue after the virus pandemic hit.

All the money from this weekend's event will go towards feeding the animals and getting them the best care they need to stay healthy.

"You know, we've had a lot of people come out. The flow of traffic has been good. The animals seem excited to finally have some life," said Matt Provence, the zoo's chief operating officer.

The drive-thru event includes an educational audio tour. Zoo leaders say about 200 cars drove through Thursday, and they expect a lot more to come through over the holiday weekend.
