SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - The Lehigh Valley Zoo is planning to give some of its animals an experimental COVID-19 vaccine.

The zoo says the vaccine was specifically made for animals and donated by the animal health company Zoetis.

Zoo President Amanda Shurr says they give yearly vaccines to many animals and this is just another way to keep them - and any human visitors - safe.

At least 75 percent of emerging infectious diseases have an animal origin, including COVID-19.
