EASTON, Pa. - An Easton landmark is getting a facelift.

Renovations are underway on the steeple and clock tower on the First United Church of Christ on North Third Street. The steeple was designed by the same architect who designed parts of the U.S. Capitol building. The church has been fundraising for about two years and has raised $90,000 of about $125,000 needed to make the repairs. Work is expected to take about five weeks.

"We were really concerned that at some point if we didn't do something, not only would the building not look appropriate but we would begin to have some further damage. It was a sense of responsibility to the community, responsibility to history,” Rev. Michael Dowd told 69 News.

You can find more information about the restoration project and how to donate on the First United Church of Christ website.
