Pennsylvania authorities perform criminal enforcement operation in Allentown

 

Pennsylvania authorities performed a criminal enforcement operation in Allentown on Friday night that resulted in numerous arrests.

Officials from the Allentown Police Department, the Lehigh County District Attorney's office, Pa. State Police and the Lehigh County Probation office were involved in the operation, according to Allentown Police Captain Michael Becker.

Police arrested 19-year-old Jasiah Lopez on the 200-block of Ridge Avenue in connection with a shooting that happened on July 12 on the 400-block of Church Street, police said. According to police, Lopez was involved in an altercation before the shooting broke out.

The shooting left 33-year-old Lauren Gonzalez dead and one man injured, according to authorities.

Police said that Lopez was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and gun charges.

Lopez is being held at Lehigh County Jail and is unable to post bail, according to court documents.

Allentown Police have not released information about any other arrests made during the operation.
