Police: Allentown man admits involvement in fight and shooting

An Allentown man is facing attempted homicide charges for his alleged involvement in a fight and shooting in the city.

Jasiah Lopez, 19, of Allentown, was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and related gun charges Saturday.

Police said Lopez shot a man in the 400 block of North Church Street July 12.

Lauren Gonzalez, 33, of Allentown, died after being shot in the same incident. Police continue to investigate her death. Lopez is not facing homicide charges.

Police said Lopez admitted to shooting Gonzalez's boyfriend multiple times.

According to court paperwork, Lopez told police he heard someone yell "go shoot up the house" then pulled a gun out of his waistband and opened fire on the man.

Police said Lopez did not have a concealed carry permit.

Officers said Lopez fled the scene and disposed of the gun by melting it down.

Surveillance and cell phone video led to Lopez's arrest.

He was taken into custody Friday in the 200 block of Ridge Avenue as part of a joint operation between the Allentown Police Department, the Lehigh County district attorney's office, Pennsylvania State Police and the Lehigh County probation office.

According to court documents, Lopez is being held at Lehigh County Jail and is unable to post bail.
