The holiday season was made a little brighter for some local kids Thursday night.

The Caring Place held its annual Christmas party in Allentown.

The organization is an inner-city youth development center that helps at-risk children.

There was music, games and refreshments.

Gifts were also donated by community members.

Event organizers said the aim of the event was to have kids enjoy themselves during the holidays and not worry about the tough times.

"Let the kids know that it's not just Santa Claus, but there's great people in the community that have given gifts and adopted our children," said The Caring Place Director Mary Ellen Griffin.

Officials from Amazon were also there to bring some holiday cheer.

They donated $5,000 to the organization.
