ALLENTOWN, Pa. | Authorities have charged three Berks County men in connection with an armed home invasion in Allentown earlier this month.
Anthony Perez, of West Oley Street in Reading, was arrested last week and faces burglary and related charges for the March 3 armed break-in of a West Washington Street home. The 23-year-old is one of four people charged by Allentown police.
Allentown police responded to a report of an armed burglary at a home in the 400 block of West Washington Street about 4:30 p.m. March 3. The victims reported that three men and a woman armed with handguns forced their way into the house, according to court records.
The victims reported the intruders were looking for a man they referenced by first name. Police said they confirmed the identity of the man, who was not home at the time.
The intruders allegedly pointed guns at the residents, threatening to kill the man for whom they were looking once they found him, according to records. When they finally left, the intruders allegedly fired shots at the house.
Authorities said there were 15 people in the home at the time, ranging in ages from 1 to 39. Police said video surveillance confirmed the victims’ accounts of the break-in.
Based on their investigation, authorities prepared a photo array that included a picture of Perez. Investigators said five victims identified Perez as one of the people who allegedly broke into the house.
He now faces single felony counts of burglary and conspiracy along with a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment. Perez was released from custody following his arraignment on $75,000 unsecured bail. He is tentatively scheduled for an April 7 preliminary hearing.
Authorities previously arrested Stephanie Rivera for her involvement in the alleged break in. Victims had identified her and told police Rivera had previously lived in the house.
Allentown police also charged Emmanuel Perez and Garfield McLean Jr. in connection with the incident. The 27-year-old Emmanuel Perez faces burglary, conspiracy and reckless endangerment charges.
The 24-year-old McLean, meanwhile, faces two counts of burglary and single counts of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, all felonies. He also faces single misdemeanor counts of simple assault and reckless endangerment.
Court records show neither man is in custody, and that they live at the same West Oley Street address in Reading as Anthony Perez.
