WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – The Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners approved a major subdivision/land development plan featuring four new townhouses.
The development, located at 3434 N. Front Street, recently received zoning hearing board relief to achieve the number, according to township engineer Frank Clark. The proposal was "just shy by half an acre," he said. That was close enough to receive the OK from the zoning hearing board.
The area of Front and Hokendauqua streets is home to considerable vehicle and foot traffic, according to comments by commissioners. Nevertheless, Clark indicated that the proposal was consistent with the code.
The vote was 5-2 on Monday night, with Commissioners Thomas Slonaker and Charles Fisher voting against it.
In other business, commissioners approved the purchase of three new vehicles for the police department. The vehicles were two Ford Explorers and one Ford F150.
Finally, the board approved a resolution conditionally approving a sewage facilities plan revision for a new land development. The development will at 4154 Roosevelt St.
