Teen injured in Allentown shooting

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A teenager was shot in Allentown Wednesday evening, police said.

Officers were first called to the area of 12th and Walnut streets for a report of shots fired, but nothing was found, said Captain John Hill, with the Allentown Police Department.

A short time later, a 16-year-old walked into the emergency room of a local hospital with a gunshot wound, Hill said.

The teen's injury was serious, but as of Thursday morning he was in stable condition and is expected to survive, Hill said.

The victim is not completely cooperating with police, but investigators believe he was shot around 6 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Blank and Hickory streets, near the initial shots fired call, Hill said.

No arrests have been made and police are continuing to investigate.
