Pedestrian hit, killed in Pottsville

POTTSVILLE, Pa. - A man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 61 in Schuylkill County Wednesday night.

Pottsville police were called around 8 p.m. to Route 61, north of East Race Street, for a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.

Officers found an 18-year-old man dead, lying on the side of the highway, police said.

A 29-year-old Shenandoah man on scene told police he had been driving north on 61 when he hit the man.

Pottsville and state police are investigating the crash. Police did not say if the driver will face charges.
