HANOVER TWP., Pa. - A kidnapping and Amber Alert in Luzerne County ended with a man killed by police, authorities said.
It started around 3:15 p.m. Sunday in Nanticoke when police were called for a 20-year-old man holding a 15-year-old girl at knife point, state police said in a news release.
Responding officers were able to free the girl and get her in a police vehicle. Police tried to arrest the man, identified as Jordan Oliver, but he fought back, sprayed mace on the officers, then fled in the police car with the girl inside.
State police and the district attorney's office took over the case, and found Oliver and the victim in a wooded area near Hanover Township and Warrior Run, police said. He was still holding the girl hostage.
"Deadly force was used" against Oliver, and the girl was freed, police said.
She was not injured.
