JACKSON TWP., Pa. - A man who police say had a role in defrauding a Monroe County couple has been arrested in Florida.
Robert Deharder, 70, was charged with deceptive business practices, home improvement fraud, theft by deception, and receiving stolen property.
An agreement had been reached for the couple to put down a $20,000 deposit for the installation of a metal roof onto their Jackson Township residence, according to the Monroe County district attorney's office.
Deharder collected the deposit. The metal roof was never installed. During an investigation authorities discovered that Deharder fled the state, the DA's office said.
Deharder, who was using a fraudulent identity, was apprehended in Florida with the assistance of the Pennsylvania State Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, the DA's office said.
He will be extradited from Florida. A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date.
