Car accident

BUTLER TWP., Pa. -- A man was injured in a hit-and-run accident Saturday evening in Schuylkill County.

The Butler Township Police Department was dispatched to the 600 block of Fountain Street, Fountain Springs, at around 8:24 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck.

At the scene, it was learned that two men were walking northbound along side Fountain Street when one was struck by a vehicle also traveling northbound.

The man was treated at the scene and flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, police said.

At around 11:30 p.m. that evening, Kenny Deleon, of Shenandoah, PA, came to Butler Twp. Police Department to report that he was involved in a traffic accident earlier in the evening where a man was struck.

Police say Deleon believed he had struck a deer.

The department inspected Deleon's vehicle, a 1996 Subaru Impreza, and compared it to evidence recovered from the scene to positively identify it as the acting vehicle.

Deleon was arrested and charged with 1 count each of accidents involving death or personal injury, leaving the scene of an accident, and duty to stop and render aid.

Deleon was arraigned and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
