RED HILL, Pa. -  A procession of family, friends, army, fire, and police surprised a Montgomery County woman who's joining the U.S. Army.

Her Red Hill community came out in force to congratulate her. Rylee Fluharty was overwhelmed by the support after she was virtually commissioned into the Army Friday.

She was given her first salute by her gymnastics coach and former Army Sgt. Mike Vanim.

Rylee graduated virtually from Penn State last week with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.

"I literally had no idea this was happening, cause I commissioned this morning and I came outside literally all my friends and family were here. People drove two hours to be here so I was just so honored and blessed," she said.

Rylee will serve as an Army nurse for the next eight years.
