A driver fled his car in Chester County when it caught fire while he was driving tonight.

It happened on South Hanover Street near the Route 422 ramp in North Coventry Township around 9 p.m.

Police say the driver pulled onto the sidewalk to get out of traffic and then bailed out of the car.

Fire officials say they're still looking into the cause, but the fire started underneath the car while it was in motion.
