Berks woman celebrates 45 years with American Red Cross

READING, Pa. - An employee with the Tri-County Chapter of the American Red Cross is marking a milestone.

Sherry Bingaman of Reading is celebrating 45 years with the agency. She started her career with the Red Cross in Berks County in 1974.

She said one of her most memorable times on the job was during the aftermath of 9/11.

"Our phones rang off the hook," Bingaman recalled. "We were getting calls nonstop, people bringing in donations."

Bingaman said she has stuck with the job for so long simply because she said it feels good to help others.
